Rapid Response After Basement Excavation Collapse
During early spring 2022, a contractor working on a foundation repair near Fort Washington Avenue hit saturated soil from a broken water main. Mud oozed into the street by noon, and the open excavation posed a serious fall hazard just feet from a sidewalk used by school kids. With neighbors watching and city inspectors due the next morning, the site needed secure perimeter control—fast.
We rolled in two hours later with silt fencing and heavy-gauge chain-link panels anchored to steel posts. Our crew worked through dusk, installing a full 200-foot barrier with high-visibility windscreen to block debris and deter foot traffic. The inspector signed off the next day, and the homeowner avoided costly work stoppages.
Matty’s team showed up when others couldn’t—and kept our project moving without a single safety issue.
